  • Minors (Property and Contracts) Act 1970 (NSW) - Level 4An Act relating to the entry into, and presence in, Australia of aliens, and the departure or deportation from Australia of aliens and certain other persons. The object of this Act is to regulate, in the national interest, the coming into, and presence in, Australia of aliens, and the departure or deportation from Australia of aliens and certain other persons. As an Employer: This Act is relevant for the University in its capacity as an employer. The University must only employ persons who can prove they have a 'right to work' in Australia. It is worth noting that student visas allow work in Australia but there are limitations to the number of hours etc (only relevant if the University employs foreign students). The University must comply with terms and conditions of visa's and observe visa start and end dates. For Students attending the University: University responsibilities in its capacity of providing education services for overseas students are covered by the ESOS Act. There are some obligations for the University with respect to Migration legislation as the University has an obligation to provide an electronic confirmation of enrolment that is used to assess Student Visa applications. It is important that the University complies with the requirements surrounding the issue of this document as it becomes a trusted source document for the Immigration department.
