Compliance Is defined in Australian Standard, Compliance management systems – Requirements with guidance for use, AS ISO 37301:2021, as “Meeting all the organisation’s compliance obligations”.
Compliance Coordinator The person responsible for coordinating the activities to make sure we comply.
Coordinating Officer  The Coordinating Officer assists the Responsible Manager in meeting their role. They have the same responsibilities as the Compliance Coordinator but at the obligation, not driver level. The majority of obligations pertaining to Level 1 and 2 classified drivers will have a Coordinating Officer appointed, otherwise the Compliance Coordinator will also be responsible for this role.
Driver Is the overarching piece of legislation, standard or code that drives the requirement to comply. Compliance obligations attach to the driver.
Local Compliance Officer  The person responsible for processing tasks. Typically the staff member doing the day-to-day tasks.
Compliance Obligations Is defined in ISO 37301 as “requirements an organisation mandatorily has to comply with as well as those that an organisation voluntarily chooses to comply with.” Obligations may arise from mandatory requirements, such as applicable laws and regulations, or voluntary commitments such as organisational and industry standards and codes, contractual relationships, principles of good governance and community and ethical standards.
Responsible Manager The person responsible for ensuring we do what we need to do to meet the obligation (typically a Senior Manager or above).
Tasks and action Items

Tasks are the actions required to ensure an obligation is met. They:

  • Prevent, detect and reduce undesired effects;
  • Achieve continual improvement; and
  • Provide an assurance that the University can achieve the desired outcome - compliance.

Where required, a task can be broken down into components - known as "actions" in the CRS.

VC Compliance Delegate The person delegated responsibility by the Vice-Chancellor for whole of University compliance for assigned drivers (typically a member of the Senior Executive)
