Overview Biosecurity is the protection of the economy, environment and community from negative impacts associated with pests diseases and weeds. The objectives of the legislation is to manage biosecurity risks from animal and plant pests and diseases, weeds and contaminants by:

(a) preventing their entry into NSW;
(b) quickly finding, containing and eradicating any new entries; and
(c) effectively minimising the impacts of those pests, diseases, weeds and contaminants that cannot be eradicated through robust management arrangements.
