Overview The Act regulates organisms declared to be biological control agents. It provides for releases of such agents with protection from litigation following the release of the declared agents. Target organisms are those organisms deemed to require control. Agent organisms are those organisms that may be used to control specific target organisms. There is a complex approval process and provisions for Commissions of Inquiry in determination of appropriate declarations of target and agent organisms. The University's research and teaching activities may potentially result in the production or release of biological control agents.
